About Pinky
Pinky McKay is an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), a Certified Infant Massage Instructor and a respected baby care author. Most importantly, Pinky is a mum of five and ‘nanapinky’ to two gorgeous grandbabies.
As well as specialising in writing about health, education and family issues, Pinky works ‘hands on’ with parents, teaching infant massage, helping with baby settling and solving breastfeeding problems, with many clients being referred to her by health professionals such as GPs and MCH nurses.
- Pinky is the author of five books, including ‘Sleeping Like a baby‘ (Penguin 2006), Toddler Tactics Penguin (Feb 2008) , ‘100 Ways to Calm the Crying’ (Penguin June 2008) and Parenting By Heart ( updated edition for release January 2009). She has also just released a Baby Massage DVD ( produced by Gotitmade).
Pinky’s books are endorsed by professional bodies such as The Australian Breastfeeding Association, La Leche League International and The Australian Association of Infant Mental Health.
- A popular media guest, Pinky has been on shows such as ‘ A Current Affair’, ‘Today Tonight’, ‘The Today Show’, Kerri-Ann, Nine am with Kim and David, and radio shows in every state in Australia as well as national programs such as ABC radio’s ‘Night life with Tony Delroy’.
- Pinky writes two monthly columns -‘Mummy Matters ‘ and ‘Breastfeeding Basics’ – for Practical Parenting, Australia’s best selling baby magazine and contributes to various national publications and high profile websites including Kindred magazine www.bellybelly.com.au and www.essentialbaby.com.au .
- She also regularly writes for Littlies Magazine – New Zealand’s largest baby and child publication.
- Pinky is a popular guest speaker at in-service days, conferences and seminars for health professionals and parents in Australia and New Zealand.
The mother of four adult ‘children’ and a now teenage ‘bonus baby’ (the baby you have when your other kids can run their own baths, tie their own shoelaces and even drive their own cars!), Pinky has experienced it all from both sides of the episiotomy. And this is why she knows (first hand!) how much parents need to laugh – or some days they’d cry. Her warmth and humour make her a popular guest speaker.
